Our lifestyle is based purely on convenience, and as such we end up destroying the world in the process. The way the movie is presented, it is an "inconvenient" truth - everyone will recognize that the destruction of the earth is a problem, but at the same time, they will have to sacrifice their lavish, careless lifestyles.

Here's an example of an inconvientent truth. You see trash on the side of the road. You know it's there because you see it. You know you should stop your car and pick the trash up. However, to stop your car, get out and actually pick the trash up would be too much of an inconvience, so you just drive on and leave the trash there. :-) Same thing applies to global warming.
