I would love a new macbook, the new hewlet packard laptop, or possibly toshiba?
I've never had a laptop and looking for opinions on the best one I could buy.
I mainly use my computer for music, movies and pictures.
I would love something fast, and easy to travel with the wireless internet.

If you had unlimited funds, you would have probably already bought that very expensive Macbook.

If you are asking about the best value for your dollar, I would suggest a middle of the line Toshiba laptop - they have good performance for media playback and are very reliable with good resale value when you upgrade to your next laptop. Very often you can sell these 2 or 3 years later for very close to what you paid. The really high performance ones really loose their value quickly.

If you are only watching movies and listening to music, any laptop will do it. Don't get talked into spending thousands to buy a high end "fast" machine when you don't need it. A standard 15.4" widescreen with an Intel Core Duo or AMD Athlon 64 on sale after rebate will run you around $750. The smaller 14" and 12" models are lighter but more expensive.

well your requirement is quite basic. U dont need to go for something very fancy. Your requirements are Processer : Core 2 Duo 1.66 (somewhere around that mark) Mem: 1 GB Hard Disk :depends on the number od songs and movies you want to store my recommendation 120 GB (but as you are really serious about photography and would like to keep the same laptop for a long time and use it for designing and refining your pics got for a Mac.. nothin like it...... I am also a bit into Photography.. I play around with my Canon 40D..and I am also planning to buy a Mac....
