I did, I did, me!!! Did you? Why not? I need a new job anyway. I applied for an internal transfer to our Security Department (I work back-office at a bank processing fraud) to investigate anti-money laundering. They couldn't handle the fact that I'm 24 and smarter/way more capabe than they are? You know, I hope when my 25th rolls around in a month and half, I'll finally be earning some respect from people. Because my intelligence isn't "cutting it", I hope that purely my age will. Seriously, what do people WANT? Why can't they just come right out, and be BLUNT and HONEST for once in their freaking lives? Okay, I know that's more than 1 question, but still...who else here just wants brutal honesty? From everyone, not just co-workers, but family and friends as well. I'm going through a horrible time in my life right now. Anyone else want to confess?

Oh really, and you "know it all"? I have a B.A. and am bi-lingual, and have worked since I'm 16 so don't be such a presumptuous you-know-what. I've proven how amazing I work, and they still don't care. And don't you DARE call me an "actress"; they know what I'm going through. I don't bs to them because they know I'm honest. Or were you too prissy to read that in me original question?

I didn't stay home from work but your situation sounds very similar to a friend of mine. She works for a HUGE retail company and since being hired has taken over both tech jobs, scheduling and events/tours. It's ridiculous, she's 21 and works harder and knows more than the people who went to school for this ****. Good luck finding something that makes you happy.

I hate to break this to you, but there is no magic age when people being to respect your knowledge. You need to prove yourself over and over again to gain advancement. Are you educated? Do you show interest in learning more or are you too busy talking about how smart you are to prove it? I've got employees like you. The only ones that gain true respect and advancement are the ones that put in the time and effort to show that working here is important to them. That means they don't call off for the heck of it, and they prove that they recognize there is always more to learn by continuing education, and getting licenses and certifications, degrees to prove it.
And trust me, your employers know when you're not really sick, i dont' care how good of an actress you are.
