If we have a loss of confidence or another terror attack, it is possible that other countries will raise interest rates against us, further driving down the dollar. Does any other responsible conservative take issue with this type of conduct? Reagan, Bush Sr, and now Bush jr have all run on deficit spending...is this good fiscal conservatism? And don;t give me any BS about stimulating the economy...our economy is booming so there is no need to stimulate it...

I wish congress hadn't pushed NAFTA on CLinton...you are correct, another misstep in the 'conservative' handling of finances.

I've always wondered why Republicans consider massive debts to be fiscally responsible. Not only does it give foreign governments too much leverage over our economy; but it's short sighted. We will have to pay that money back. If we can't stay in the black now, what change do we forsee?

Thanks to the Bush family's 'cozy' arrangements with the Chinese government, the U.S.A. has become China's biggest debtor. All it takes is for China to "cut off our credit cards" and we'll see the worst economic depression in the history of the United States. Impotent because we have no way to finance our military, we'll be forced to sit by and let China come over here and take anything they want: our banks, real estate, property, military hardware, natural resources, water, food, weapons of mass destruction, even our women if there's a strong demand for western females in the global sex-slave trade. The Chinese have patiently sat back and allowed us to 'max out' our credit cards. It's only a matter of time before they become the world's next super power while the U.S.A. continues to decline into a moral decay that has already rotted away its inner core. Our middle class is dwindling...our work ethic has all but disappeared....our materialism, greed and gluttony is obscene.....and we are in the throes of a culture demise that will - within a generation or two - certainly destroy us. -RKO- 05/02/07

First our economy is sluggish as I quote many sources. That is far from booming, not to mention you can't say we are doing well when the dollar is worthless. Foreign debt at some point will have to be paid or accounted for, this is the part that they never tell you about because most of that money is being put right into their pockets so why would they care. We will be screwed and bought out by china or something if this continues.

It's a lot more complicated than that.

For starters, why would these countries want to drive down the value of the dollar? Isn't that a bit self-defeating for them.. as it would reduce the value of their investments? Also, a lower dollar causes problem with exporting to the US.

But yes, I do have a problem with it. There should be a balanced budget.. and it should be required by law.

I'm sure our debt problems wouldn't be as bad if other countries actually paid us back for a change. Hmm, just a thought.

*I think I'm gonna have to agree with RKO on this one. I don't know about Bush's cozy ties but I wouldn't doubt if anyone had "cozy ties" including Rep, Dems, or whatever

Many, many people do, just not the ones in power. It's a shame.

America has been lacking good leadership for so long now.
