If the visiting team TAKES THE LEAD in the top of any inning in or after the 5th, the home team has to have an oppurtunity to bat in their half of the inning.

If the weather makes that impossible it would be suspended so that the game can be finished in decent weather.

Before the fifth, if the game gets called they start fom scratch at the first inning when weather permits.

If the weather gets bad enough they cant play after the fifth inning and the home team is winning, the game can get called at any point and the home team officially wins.

Hope this helps out.

If a game goes less than 4 and a half innings, with the home team leading, the game is suspended. The reason for this is that an official game is 5 innings, or 4 and a half, if the home team is ahead. They get a chance to make the game official at a later time. After 5 innings, the game is called, and the game is recorded as an official game.

A game must last at least 5 innings to be official. After 5 innings, the game will be suspended and picked up at a later date if:

- the game is tied, or
- the visiting team takes the lead in the top half of an inning and the home team does not get to finish batting in the bottom of the inning.

Otherwise, it will be called and the score will stand.

It depends at what point the game is at. If it is before the 5th inning, the game would be cancelled and replayed. After the 5th inning, there are 2 options. The game is called a complete game or suspended and continued. That is a judgement call. Like the Cubs/Pirates game last night was suspended because it was the beginning of the series so they could continue it tonight.

Because I think the rule is that the home team has to bat to complete the inning to be a called a game.
