You don't bail out of the whole stock market. You should always be watching the fundamentals of the companies you are investing in. When the fundamentals show signs that the price of the stock is in a downturn, then you sell that stock. People can make money in the market even when the market is not doing well.

okay.... it depnds on what you are investing in. if it is oil, then it will be awhile. Otherwise i suggest 1 week after a major event in that field.
