Crack open a nice, frosty beer and watch your grass grow for a few hours!!

A fertilizer high in phosphorous will encourage root development, which will thicken your lawn as new shoots fill in the openings you created during thatching. Check at your local garden center and be sure to tell them what kind of grass you have, as it can make a difference.

If you haven't busted either your back or your account with the tool rental shop, rent an aerator. It pokes holes into the ground allowing oxygen into the soil. If you aren't up for that, just use a good fertilizer, I too like Scotts., and sit back and congratulate yourself. If you have a weed problem, make certain you use the appropriate Scott's product. While I hate weed-n-feeds because of potential damage to trees and shrubs, once in awhile one needs to take the easy route.
