(flag shadow)/(flag height) = (building shadow)/(building height)

50 / 20 = 110 / x
50x = 20(110)
50x = 2200
x = 2200 / 50 = 44

The building is 275 ft tall...

You have to solve this like this..
first take a right angled triangle... such that your opposite side is 20 ft and ur adjacent side is 50ft... Now
tan A=opposite / adjacent..... ( U ll get it as tan A=20/50)
Now... U have to equate it to known opposite side divided by an unknown adjacent... that is..
(2/5)=110/x
x=275ft

proportional Problem

50/110 = 20/x

The means = 20(110)

The extremes = 50x

50x = 20(110)

50x = 2200

50x / 50 = 2200 / 50

x = 2200 / 50

x = 44

The building is 44 feet tall
