I have yet to see the difference from 30 years ago, yet the people in th legal profession swear things have changed. I see it all the time where the man is beat up in every settlement even when the Wife has all the means to make a great living on her own.

Its all about money and who gets the lawyer first and who files for custody first.I have seen DECENT men denied child custody while D.S.S. bent over backwards to kiss the butts of many unfit mothers because they have the "if its got a vagina it cant be wrong" syndrome. The courts have this syndrome too.I have seen children given to druggie/alcholic moms who pass out while thyre kids run wild and get into trouble etc.If a guy can file first and go in with the edge that he can give the child a better lifestyle than the mom and doesnt ask for child support and says the mom can have visitation, then the courts love this kind of guy because they dont have to spend money chasing down mothers who wont pay child support.Like i said, it isnt so much about justice its about money and women are charged 90% less than men when it comes to divorce matters by lawyers and the courts and the government even helps them in this whereas they dont help the man.

If the man divorced his wife and it was his fault, then it is his responsibility to take care of her. Especially, if he asked her to be a housewife. Once divorced, the man is responsible to keep the woman living as she did during the marriage. But it is not just the man. Nowadays, some women end up paying the divorce settlements because they make more. So if you screwed up, and got caught, best believe you will be taken to the cleaners.

Yes, the courts typically do. The exception is when the woman is obviously mentally ill and the man wants out. It is in those cases that the courts show some degree of sympathy for the male.

Joint custody is the presumption in many states, now.

Looks good on paper. In reality, though, joint custody as it is now is nothing more than glorified sole custody.

I don't know that the courts can force real changes to this, though. I think society needs to change it's view of men as parents before any real changes will happen in the everyday lives of the children - changes that bring them back to having two full-time parents active in their lives no matter what their parents romantic/personal relationship may be.
