Either Cubic ZIrconia or a Rhenzite (sp). Rhenzites are actually sold at the popular "Wedding Day Diamonds" stores as a popular substitute to a real diamond. They only cost $50 per carat so you could get her a 1.5 large carat for only $150 and it looks a lot like a real diamond.

Zirconia has a higher refractive index than diamond and looks even more brilliant when cut properly.
If you are considering cutting tools Cubic Boron Niride is a good substitute.
If it is for electronic substrate, Aluminum Nitide is good.
If it is astrology it is only faith laced with a lot of hope. Get someone to give you the cheaper Zirconia calling it diamond. It will work as well.

Cubic zirconium is a popular substitute for diamonds. As for astrological properties, neither diamonds nor zirconiums have any. There is no such thing.
Zirconiums are made of zirconium and diamonds are made of carbon. So chemically they are not the same. Graphite, however is pure carbon, just like diamond, so it is chemically the same only graphite's carbon atoms form in flat sheets while diamond's atoms form in three-dimensional tetrahedrons. Graphite doesn't resemble diamonds very much, though.

For the parameters given, there is no substitute, I don't know about "astrologically" , but diamond is pure carbon, "nearly the same" would be "nearly" pure carbon, but if not pure it won't be a diamond. Common substitutes are made of completely different elements.

No substitute for that purpose. If it is just for decorative jewellery, cubic zirconia (American Diamonds) are OK. For industrial purpose also, cubic zirconia and non-gem grade synthetic diamonds are used.
For astrological purpose, you need real genuine diamond.

In Kolkata, when one has to wear diamonds for astrological reasons and cannot afford it, he goes for "American Diamonds" or cubic zirconia...but the chemical composition is not the same.I believe they show good results, too.
