Irregular, heavy, or no bleeding are common side effects of depo. After a year of use, many women stop having periods. The longer you use it, the better the chance of not having a period at all.

Spotting, particularly during the first year on the shot, is completely normal, and considered a usual side effect of Depo. It has to do with the chemical make up of the shot, your body adjusting to the new hormones that are going into its system, etc.
It's perfectly usual, and nothing to be worried about. If you don't like spotting, you should probably give it a few months, and if you're still having issues with it, you might want to look at another form of birth control.

It's a common side-effect of the depo shot. Some women spot or bleed the entire 3 months. I don't recommend the shot just because I've read so many cases where once they stopped the shot, it took nearly 3 years or more to conceive.
