I don't know, but Kent State changed the country's attitude about the Viet Nam war. After Kent State, the majority of the country was against it.

BTW: To those who say it was a "bunch of losers and hippies" that got shot - read a friggin' history book!!! Some of the people that were KILLED were on their way to CLASSES and were not in the protest. You might not be saying the same thing if it was somebody you loved that got killed that day. The U.S. Government LIED to us about Viet Nam - the protesters were RIGHT about protesting the war. It kind of reminds me of a more "modern" situation where the government lied about the reasons to go to war. In certain matters I trust the government as far as I can throw it.

Privacy and secrecy laws/rules keep most things private. Ronald Reagan's diaries were just released, too.

Clicking on links here is very unfriendly because they open in the same (versus a new) window, thereby losing the ability to compare the data in the link with the posted question.

The recording proves nothing, except maybe a National Guard officer did NOT give the order. No guard officer would have said POINT, the one word that could be made out.

Do we have to relive this crap? Move on with your life. It's sad that it happened, but we don't need to keep going back to the 60s.

Seeing a bunch of losers rally for the defeat of their own country makes me sick, and I have very little sympathy. If you don't want to be hurt, get under control and stop trashing peoples property. There was a reason the national guard was called in the first place.

The guy probably kept it secret because he didn't want to end up dead too.

You have to remember, the Kent State killings were deliberate murders of people who were peacefully exercising their Constitutional rights to protest government policy--perpetrated by the cons of the time.

Correct command would be "aim" not "point." If Hippies burned down buildings and threw rocks again, they would get the same thing today as back then.

I don't really care about hippies getting shot. I couldn't care less that's why I'm not clicking on the link.
