Last year, I did had almost all of the signs of becoming schizophrenic, I was talking to myself and having anxieties. But this year, I improved by just reading and following therapy book. It did work because I no longer have the signs of becoming schizophrenic. I am NO longer in my own imaginary world, I'm facing reality now.

I was reading psychology book and it said if you have or had signs of becoming schizophrenic, chances are when you become 35, you will be schizophrenic.

Does that mean when I become 35, I'll become fully schizophrenic? Right now, I'm 18.

Hi Kareena

Brett is absolutely right.
You may think you have had certain symptoms associated with schizophrenia, but it takes someone with training and experience to make such a diagnosis reliably, and if you are only 18 then you obviously don't have either.

Schizophrenia is caused by changes in the brain that take a lot more than a self-help book to deal with. Likewise if you had genuine symptoms of schizophtrenia now you certainly wouldn't have to wait another 17 years before it took hold - it would have happened already!

The best advice I can offer is that you stop trying to self-diagnose and get on with enjoying your life.

that's an awfully important question to leave to the average joe. i think you should talk to a doctor. if you have already made this kind of progress on your own he/she might be able to help you even more. were you actually diagnosed schizophrenic or just having symptoms? you might find an official interpretation of your symptoms to be different and that could calm your worries as well. if you are headed in that direction -- being schizophrenic -- a doctor could help you in many ways. good luck to you.

What you're talking about is a serious mental illness. And it just does'nt go away. The person will have it for the rest of her / his life. This illness often starts in the late teens. But I really doubt if you have it. You need to talk to a doctor that can explain these things to you.

See the medical links below...I included "Thyroid" due to the fact that certain depletions of the Thyroid mimics schizophrenic symptoms. How are your eating habits? Chemical imbalances due to dieting, fasting, etc... may adversely affect ones interpretation of life, people, and occurences therein. Are you a suppressed actor? It was commonly misdiagnosed during it's early beginnings due to the struggle of actors to "connect" to their character portrayals... "do not play Romeo....BE...Romeo!"

Computed tomography (CT), originally known as computed axial tomography (CAT or CT scan) and body section roentgenography, is a medical imaging method employing tomography where digital geometry processing is used to generate a three-dimensional image of the internals of an object from a large series of two-dimensional X-ray images taken around a single axis of rotation. The word "tomography" is derived from the Greek tomos (slice) and graphein (to write). CT produces a volume of data which can be manipulated, through a process known as windowing, in order to demonstrate various structures based on their ability to block the X-ray beam. Although historically (see below) the images generated were in the axial or transverse plane (orthogonal to the long axis of the body), modern scanners allow this volume of data to be reformatted in various planes or even as volumetric (3D) representations of structures.

There are diagnostic methods discernable using CAT-Scans to study the brain cells and areas to determine the presence of abnormal brain cells. It has been available yet rarely used since the late 70s.

And, if you are...relax...there are drug therapies available to control aberrant thinking processes. Furthermore, services available via State Departments of Rehabilitation may be able to provide free education, training, and placement opportunities to those with "disabilities" such as mental challenges described as "split mind" disorder.

Take care and remember that if you "look" for water...you will often "find" water...the insurance pays for the search.

you don't get better from schizophrenia, but you can manage it...

just because you show some of the indicators/warning signs, doesn't mean it'll happen either though. if you're concerned, talk to a doctor or psychiatrist.

No, it does not. You do not "have to become" anything or any condition. You are what you make of yourself. Sometimes there are conditions that are "unavioded" but that does not mean that you are predestined to become anything. Keep working hard at the things you are doing. Good for you.

you don't used to be schizophrenic

it's not something you can just flip on and off like a lightswitch.

educate yourself and go to a doctor instead of throwing around words that you heard in school or on tv.
