Now that the Indian cricket team is performing poorly consistently for the past 4 years and they have definitely saddened the whole nation by there pathetic performance, are Indians going to sit up and notice other sports now?
Will sports like Volleyball, Tennis, Hockey, Chess, Athletics get there due share.
I feel that the demise of cricket (as the most popular sport in India) is near now.
What do you feel?

A power hungry politician in the BCCI, this was in fact quite predictable. But it's not too late, we have budding cricketers in the form of Ishant Sharma, Ranadeb Bose, Manoj Tiwari, etc, etc. And this pathetic "junior" excuse seems ridiculous to me! What do they mean? Just because a couple of Bangladeshi juniors helped them with two upsets does not mean that "Juniors" are the only solution to our problem, in which other match in the world cup did any so called "junior" preform well? Regarding the other sports, they now have to rise from the ashes and it's quite right that they are showing signs of life........look at the achievements of India in the field of golf, chess, shooting, rugby(only growing as a zonal sport), hockey, etc now. I agree that it is not big enough to impact the world but the platform to a better future is being built by the recent happenings. Let's cross our fingers and pray to out million plus Indian Gods for a better sporting future for our great Bahrat Mata!! Jai Hind!!!!

Even though the Indian players have been consistently performing badly, the Indian cricket is not going to die so easily. The world cup-shock will give impetus to the players and they would fight their way back with vengeance and would again rise from the ashes. The only quality that the Indian players should incorporate amongst them is an aggressive and a winning attitude. The team does not lack talent, only fighting spirit needs to be inculcated which would take them way ahead of the others and then there would be no looking back.
As it is majority of the people are not much interested in other sports, hence no question of increased viewer-ship.
Cheers!

Mate do not panic,INDIAN team is still a force in international circket.
For sure take my word the are going to come back strongly.
Present the are playing for endorsements now openly you can challenge the Aussies, believe me INDIA will win fair and square.
today game is all about money if the selectors could have informed the INDIAN team before world cup the endorsements will be restricted if the loose the world cup cold have been ours.
At least for 20 years I do not see any sports near circket.

BCCI .. a richest body in sports.. every politicians or businessman want to be in Board. These people does not care for improving crickets.....As long as it continues.. Indian cricket will have pathetic performance. We need to have better Board and a Captain who can fight with BCCI.
If cricketers( who can) are making money.. why so much talks.
Who is going to look after his career gets over. In the past and present.. every sports person including cricketers are suffering financial and mental stress. Some sports are selling their gold medals.. who cares.
Basically no one cares about any sports.. if you have to achieve .. you do yourself.
If the ZEE TV cricket program comes..this will give at least competition to BCCI.. I hope... we may see some improvement. Although they do want to make money.. does not matter as long it benefits the young cricketers or cricket or fun for cricket- fans.

The present shortfall will be resolved and the team will come out stronger in the near future. I do not think that the interest for cricket will not go down in India.

Like the cricketer going through a bad patch, Indian cricket is in one of its lowest ebb. It is good that this is happening to them now. They will learn some lessons and change their game plan accordingly and reap more success than ever before.
