Yes, I said album - I'm in that generation!

We probably all have a list of the well-known top records of the 60's-70's era in mind, and the lists would be pretty similar. But is there some obsure, forgotten, or "shoulda been a hit" record you enjoy, that might be a good listen for others?

I pulled an old one out of the stacks a few days ago - "Muswell Hillbillies" by the Kinks - which is probvably best described as a "cult classic," meaning that a very small handful of people like it, but they all like it a lot. I'm one of those people!

So what gems can you suggest? Thanks.

Unequivocally it has to be 'Us and Them Symphonic' (title may be slightly different ) .

Pink Floyd taught an orchestra how to play their music and the results are simply astounding . Not only forgotten, but almost never heard . You will be shocked when you listen to this . Shocked !!

I don't care who gets 'best answer'. . . just listen to this and that alone will be reward enough .

Not too long ago, I heard some tracks from the "Bridge of Sighs" album by Robin Trower. They were all cool, but I have to say that "Bridge of Sighs" is by far one of the coolest songs I've ever heard!

By the way, I'm 33, but I have to say that I always listen to classic rock myself. I especially love Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Who, Eric Clapton, and Queen! (I sometimes feel like I was born in the wrong generation!)

The Yes Album. It's a PHENOMINAL album that like you said, has a cult following. I personally think it was THE #1 BEST ALBUM of the 1970's. Do yourself a huge favor and check it out.

I love the Kinks. I'll see if I can find that one.

Gotta be the Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers album. I had the original cover one, with the zipper. :)

Either that, or The Crazy World of Arthur Brown - that one's a collector's item now.

BTW, when you say album, I'm thinking black, vinyl, 33 1/3 12 inch record. :) And that's what I'm describing as well. Both my picks are available as CDs, but blah, borrrrring!

David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

We still have all our old vinyl and use an old turntable that my husband maintains. We've got over a 1,000 albums between us, I love the old stuff - and so much of it you just can't get on CDs anyway.
