Bush is a wannabe dictator. He is heartless enough and places no value on human life, but he is not smart enough to make it to the big leagues.

I'm pretty sure all presidents in recent memory have displayed some sort of feeling of entitlement as a perk of being president- Obama included. But Bush was right, a dictatorship would be a lot easier for the dictator. It's possible that you took this quote out of context since it sounds like something that would be said in jest (because a dictatorship is usually easier for ONLY the dictator) And I'm positive that Obama does not feel the need to explain things that he thinks should remain classified. Geesh- here I am defending a president I didn't even like all because people get blinded by their own politics and refuse to see another point of view.

Can you give a reference for the first quote? I have not seen that one and I think that if he ever did actually say it, it would have been front page news on the papers around the country.
To answer the question, he is not a dictator because his time in power is limited. His power is limited. The president cannot do whatever he wants and get away with it. A lot of people accuse Bush of doing that, however, he has just pushed the amount of power he actually does have to its limit.
If he were dictator then there would be prayer in schools and abortions would be illegal. Those are big objectives conservatives. Bush does not have the power to make either of those happen. He does not exercise the total power a dictator would have.

Yes, I believe he is more of a Dictator than he is a President that is supposed to represent the people. He does what he wants without caring what the majority of the American people want.

I think he want to be a dictator very badly. Be careful under the Patriot Act and other acts passed over the past few years he may just declare martial law and do just that.
Fortunately we no longer have a neocon controlled rubber stamp Congress that would make it easy for him. We can only hope and pray that he doesn't.

There are some troubling signs including Bush's refusal to negotiate a compromise with the Democrats on the war, and the recent Republican propaganda that equates dissent with treason. The objective is eliminate accountability, to make whatever the "war" President does beyond criticism or reproach. In other words, Bush is not just steadfast or stubborn, in some ways he is like a dictator already, insisting upon his way and refusing to share power as required by the U.S. Constitution.

Do you have the right to ask this question? Yes.
Therefore, your argument is moot. George W. Bush is not a dictator by virtue of the fact that you still have the freedom to spew your hatred of him. If he was a dictator, you could be jailed for it, or worse.
By the way, how about some context with those statements? That shows a LOT.

Absolutely not! A dictator is a person who exercises absolute power, esp. a ruler who has absolute, unrestricted control in a government without hereditary succession. GW is none of the above and he realizes it. I truly believe he does what he believes is best for the country, but sometines he speaks before he thinks.

He's not a dictator in the true sense of the word, but that doesn't mean he's not an incompetent boob who refuses to listen to differing opinions. He's going to do whatever he wants to do regardless of the will of the people, but he can only go so far...a dictator could go all the way.
