Historically they have voted Democratic (especially in California, Arizona etc). The demographics are changing as the Republicans have tried to quiet their more hard line anti-immigration factions. Hispanics in Florida especially (Cubans, Puerto Ricans etc.) are very strong Republicans and are the reason that state has voted Republican in most statewide/national elections. Democrats have tried to entice these voters, but they have been hurt by some in their ranks (Unions) and by national incidents (Elian Gonzales)
