I was just watching the program and wondering where the cast were now.
Granny (Irene Ryan) and Jed (Buddy Ebsen) could be dead as they were quite old when it was filmed. I've not heard anything about their deaths though or about Elly May (Donna Douglas) or Jethro (Max Baer).
Can anyone shed a light?

Irene Ryan (October 17, 1902 – April 26, 1973) was Emmy and Tony Award nominated actress, one of the few entertainers who found success in vaudeville, radio, film, television and Broadway.

She is most widely known for her portrayal of "Granny" on the long running TV series The Beverly Hillbillies (1962-1971), for which she was nominated for Emmy Awards for "Outstanding Continued Performance by an Actress in a Series (Lead)" in 1963 and 1964.

Donna Douglas (born September 26, 1933) is a Louisiana-born American actress. She is best-known for her role as Elly May Clampett in the long-running TV series The Beverly Hillbillies which made her one of the most popular television stars of the 1960's.

She received her real estate license after The Beverly Hillbillies went off the air in order to have something to fall back on. She did not work in that field long, however, as she remained in show business and found other projects.

A devoted Christian, Douglas frequently performs as a gospel singer and speaks at churches across America. She recorded a gospel album in 1982 and later a country and gospel album two-record set in 1989. She has also written a children's book titled Donna's Critters & Kids: Children's Stories with a Bible Touch, which has Bible stories featuring animals and is combined with a coloring book for ages two to seven.

She has remained busy making appearances, speaking for church groups, youth groups, schools and colleges. One key focus of her charitable work has been to appear and speak in support of various Christian children's homes, mostly in her native south. She has also appeared at conventions and trade shows. In 2005 she filmed two pilot episodes for a children's program titled Mirror, Mirror.

Donna Douglas currently lives in Louisiana.

Max Baer, Jr. (born December 4, 1937) In 1962, Baer was cast in the role of the doltish "Jethro Bodine" on the TV sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies. It was a role for which he continues to receive acclaim. This would prove to be the high point of his acting career.

Later career

After The Beverly Hillbillies went off the air in 1971, Baer made several more guest appearances on TV, but found himself typecast. His major contribution to the entertainment industry was in the field of feature motion pictures.

Baer wrote and produced the drama Macon County Line (1974), in which he also played Deputy Reed Morgan. It was the highest-grossing movie per dollar invested of all time (a record that would later be dwarfed by The Blair Witch Project). Made for US$110,000, it garnered almost US$25,000,000 at the box-office.

He wrote, produced, and directed the drama The Wild McCullochs (1975), in which he also played Culver Robinson. Baer then conceived the idea of using the title of a popular song to make a movie and acquired the rights to a 1967 Bobbie Gentry hit song.

Baer produced the drama Ode to Billy Joe (1976), which turned a big profit. The movie starred Robby Benson and Glynnis O'Connor.

Since the success of Ode to Billy Joe, the first movie made at the time based on a popular song, the motion picture industry has capitalized on the trend, producing over 100 song title movies. Baer later decided to pursue the rights to the hit song "Like a Virgin," recorded by the singer Madonna in 1984. When ABC tried to prevent him from making the movie, he sued, and won a judgment of more than US$2,000,000.

He directed the comedy Hometown USA (1979), then retired to his home at Lake Tahoe, Nevada, making occasional guest appearances on TV.

Everyone things you mean Miss Hathaway. She was obviously the banker's secretary so Im not so sure that is who you mean. That show was on for 10 or 11 years so if that character only appeared once by chance then its going to be hard to remember. Back to your question, I highly doubt there was any attempt to portray a gay character in a series of that nature during that time period.

Max Baer is a producer now. I believe he is working on shows in vegas. And Donna Douglas has retired, and she is connected with christian based projects. She lives in Louisiana.
Irene Ryan died many years ago. And she left a fund for young girls who want to get into acting, to help with their education in the field. Buddy Ebsen died a couple years ago. He died a multi millionaire from real estate investments. He bought up piles of california real estate when it was not worth much, and then turned it over as the state expanded with more and more housing and big businesses moving into those areas.
