I've never heard of this working before. I have heard of applying it to your chest or upper lip or nose to help with coughing, but never your feet.

Interesting, since it sounds as though they think it is a new thing. The Chinese have been applying this to the soles of feet for colds, coughing for so long! My mother was born in 1904, and she used it on all of her 6 children. Yes, it does help a lot. The idea is that the vapors into the soles of the feet, and seep through the body to the chest and to the head. It really feels good, as well, when you are ill. (Always did it, always will).

I have heard of rubbing garlic into feet to help with fevers and infections, the feet are good absorbers so it may well do something. I use vick on the back, chest, up the nose, on the forehead. One of our old nans told me, when my daughter was a baby, to use it for nappy rash. I was horrified and sure it would burn, but she insisted, I did it, she was fine and it worked! My sister in law would swallow a spoonful if she had very bad chest. I wouldn't want anyone doing these things without realizing that they are NOT recommended.

I guess it should work since it worked for my child.
I think the theory behind this could be that the heat generated by the vicks makes the blood rush to the soles and hence blood circulation increase and this eases the congestion. Decrease in congestion and hence less coughing.
I have always used Vicks on the chest and back.. this again works the same way and behind the ears since there is more heat there!

you will ought to circulate to the drug keep for this... so no longer homestead treatment whether it relatively is the suited ingredient I even have got here across. i've got tried approximately each treatment there is. it relatively is referred to as Iodex. It appears like axle grease yet once you employ it your poison ivy would be ineffective the next day. to apply it however you should ruin all the guidelines: a million. scrape open the blisters and sparkling with cleansing soap and water. 2. dry off and quickly keep on with the Iodex then cover with gauze or a comfortable dry fabric so which you will no longer wipe the Iodex off by probability. the subsequent morning you will see that the poison ivy is ineffective. you will in all probability ought to ask the pharmacist to get it for you because it heavily isn't out on a shelf or show. it relatively is not prescription. verify you ask for the single that is for cuts and abrasions. @JenV: thank you for that. such as you I even have been coated from head to foot, many cases. i will ought to offer your Neoxyn a attempt. it is the 1st I even have heard of it.

Can't say that I ever put any on the soles of my feet...can't even say I heard that. I have rubbed it on my chest, as well as my kids and hubby and it does help a little. The menthol helps you breathe easier.
Hey give it a try...Worse case scenario...it'll moisturize your feet..it's Vaseline based.

Why don't you give it a try. It couldn't hurt. Vicks is really good for your lungs... At least when applied to your chest. It helps prevent coughing....

I'm not sure, but I know it's helped me.
I know that when you sleep (as well as when you are awake), the feet and the head are the major places your body loses heat. I think it must be a fever reducing tactic. I'm not sure that it would help coughing any more than I know that it's helped me.

I guess it should work. I think there's no harm for trying as it is only applied in the feet.
