It depends on the specifics of the play. If the 2nd baseman is diving and just misses it, then it would be a hit. If the ball and coming straight at him and rolls between his legs, then it would be an error.

Usually, the scorer will take into account whether the ball was playable or not. If the ball was easy to get to, then it would be an error. If it was difficult to make the play, then it will more than likely not be an error. Was the ball under the glove on a diving attempt or just a routine grounder? That's what you have to look at for the correct answer.

It usually depends on the official scorer. The scorer is most often more lenient to the home team in scoring hits or errors. If it was me, I'd probably score it an error.
