1952, New Elizabethan, as I am, a baby boomer. We are pre HIV/Aids and post WWII. We are the grey generation of people with the grey pound, the grey vote and a great life. We have it all. We have had a great life at the best ever settled period of British and European History. The coming generations will have to deal with climate change, religious wars and civil unrest. Previous generations fought wars all over the globe. This is the bestest! I love my life, ain't been easy but a lot better than previous generations.

Of course everyone wants to point to some period of time in the far past, but they usually imply they want to be part of the rich, elite, rulers and wealthy during those periods, which in fact few people were (and few people are today).
Honestly I think the era I was born in, the baby-boom, has to be the best. Medicine is at its peak, generally the world is fairly safe and stable (as compared to WW I and WW II ... what is going on today is nothing); I was able to see and experience the 60s and 70s, and enjoy the economic boom under Reagan.
If a person was born today there are way too many issues to look forward to, including the continuing deterioration of medicine and antibiotics, unstable world situation, inability to buy houses and low wages in comparison.
I'll take what I've been through.

I wouldn't change the era I was born - this would be my first choice.
Why ?
1. My country has been at peace (more or less) since I was born.
2. My standard of living is such that I am clothed and fed with out any problems
3. I am able to travel without being robbed by highwaymen or having my throat cut by beggars and vagabonds.
4. My life expectancy is roughly double what it would have been just 100 years ago.
5. I am able to find gainful employment
6. I have been well educated for free by the state
7. I am able to stop myself from stinking as I have access to soap, deodorant and tooth paste
8. My doctor does not put leeches on me for every single conceivable illness I go to him with.
9. I get to put on clean clothes every day.
10. I've got ready access to TV and music to keep me entertained.

I would have liked to be born in the 50s, to experience the 60s and 70s as a teen and young adult.
I would also love to have lived in Elizabethan England, although the diseases would be kind of a bummer.
Oh, and to be a Viking!

I would love to be born in 1775. The romantic period. I love the big dresses, and the revolutionary war would be something I'd love to experience. Winning our freedom would be the biggest accomplishment I could have ever experienced. As a girl I would miss the freedoms we have of today, but I would rebel against society's view from right or wrong and would be a strong, independent individual, despite my gender.

Now or in the future, due to medical advances. I have asthma, so I would've had a short life very far in the past. I also had kidney failure, and that would've killed me not too many years ago. Just think, Ramese II was probably the richest and most powerfukl man alive circa 1250BCE, but he had abcesses in his gums. Imagine his pain that evidently could not be helped then for all his money and power. People who dream of living in the past forget about lack of dental care.

When the cavemen were around. You didn't have to go to work every day, you had no religious zealots, no government, no taxes, you were free to roam the land and gather things, people very fit etc. Ok, they didn't live that long but they had a very busy life with lots of challenges that would break the modern person into pieces now.

not this one. Back in the day the world was less dangerous and the girls wern't sl*gs!! The men were polite and didn't go out on the razz and beat each other up. So probably in the late 1800's or early 1900's.

I'd have liked to have been a teenager in the 50's - dances and seeing Doris Day films at the cinema sounds cool to me!
But I think that everyone has rose tinted glasses when they look back at the past.
