Does any of you guys know of a web-page which updates at least once a day, with new albums and concerts from all over the world? And, I don't want any mainstream ****, like Launch.com..

I usually just check out band websites for tour dates/new album info.

Myspace sites are good - because you can click on their 'friends' links and find out about other bands that are similar. Check under 'metal' on myspace and you will probably find enough to keep you busy for a while.

If you have a local college radio station, or another station that actually plays metal (fairly rare, surprisingly enough) then check their site, or maybe even call the DJ to get some recommendations.

I used to be a huge metal fanatic - and I still like some heavy sh**. If you haven't heard them - check out a band called the Melvins - they are bizarre, but play some of the most balls-out grunge-metal you have ever heard in your life. And live, they are f**cking psychotic.

I'm stoked, because a band called 'the reverend horton heat' is coming to Knoxville,TN on the 25th. They are insane rockabilly (if you have ever played Tony Hawk Pro-skater III - the song 'i can't surf (but neither can you)' is one of theirs.

I've seen them a couple of times (even took a motorcycle road trip up to lexington to see them up there). They never fail to impress. They are just a three piece - with a guy playing upright bass, a drummer, and the reverend playing a big-azz semi-hollowbody gretch. There are few bands that can even hold a candle to them. You should definitely give them a listen.

I still dig some old-school slayer, like 'reign in blood'. Or sepultura's 'arise'. Of course Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Iron Maiden, etc. I also love punk and hardcore like Fugazi, The Misfits, Ramones, and some more smoothed out surf-punk stuff like the Pixies.

If you want something to totally blow your mind though, check these guys out: http://www.myspace.com/badplus

They are a jazz/experimental trio - piano/bass/drums. It might not be what you are used to, but they do one of the most incredible covers of 'iron man' you've ever heard.

Try launch.com by Yahoo. It is very good. You can even listen to music there. Hope that helped.
