I know where you are coming from when it comes to fraud, I sent money to a guy for an intake and never received the intake, I made a claim with Paypal and with Ebay and out of the $600 he owed me I was only able to collect $200, I posted a claim with IC3 (internet crimes) and have heard nothing, I also went to my local police and gave them a copy of all of the emails I have received and the payment I sent..I have heard nothing. If you didn't send money and you feel like he is a fraud, DO NOT send any money, you can report him with ebay, but if there was no money sent then they won't do anything other than research his account to see if he defrauded other people. If they find that he is being fraudulent they will close his account. The bad part about that is that he can then go and start another account with a different screen name. I could also suggest to you that you could get a hold of the police in his area and file a police report with them as well, however, there is not much they will do for it. They will not extradite a person if the charge is small or if the amount it insignificant. You would think that a million dollar company such as ebay would be more willing to prosecute frauds, however their stake is that they can know about it, stop the persons actions, but they can not go after that person for committing a crime. It sux and it is and can be really frustrating. I hope this helps and that you get the resolution you are looking for. Good Luck!!

You have had some conflicting answers, but most are correct - you cannot be arrested for this. It's a civil matter, not a criminal one, the cops don't care. That said, they can and probably will come after you for the debt of the loan, you are legally obligated to pay it off. Expect to get sued here, and you will lose, you don't have a leg to stand on.

I have been ripped off by one of these cons. The car I bought was to be delivered by Autotransporters Express. This is a name registered in the USA. They said they could not deliver the car until full payment had been made, even though they had made the same promise you have recieved. The man I got stung by claimed to be in Spain, but they could be anywhere. Have no further involvement with them.

Do as the others advise - report him to ebay.
Is is good that you did not send any money.
All this situation cost you is some time. Be glad of that.
Chalk this up to experience.

Just report him to eBay- Don't give him your cash. If he won't give you his contact details, I wouldn't bother buying from him. Don't bother chasing him.
Hope you find a better car and a better deal.
