Stay off the Interstates....a great bike route through the Midwest is US 30

Basically follow the frontage roads along Interstate 80.
Go to Map Quest http://www.mapquest.com/ and in the directions box type in the City in New York you are leaving from and the city in Nebraska you want to go to and it will display a map of the route.

No. All online maps are incorrect at some point. Get a detailed map from each state.

I've heard Google is more reliable than Mapquest and that people use it for planning bike routes. Good luck; sound like an awesome trip.
