You don't have to give him any reasons...you have the right to make your own choices.
If you ever want to quit,do it cause you really want to.
Otherwise you'll hit the package again in 6 months...tops!
And I know smoking is bad....cancer...heart problems...blah blah blah...but I lost my dad when I was 14 from a heart attack and he had never smoked!
All I'm saying is you never know what tomorrow brings so make sure that whatever you do is done because you want it.
Explaining yourself to the doctor?...I don't think so....find another doctor if this one makes you feel this way!
And find three reasons to give yourself...after all smoking Isn't good for you:-)

I'm a ex smoker and I know there's a lot of pressure to quit.
You only need to tell the doc one reason why you're not quitting. You don't want to.

Knowing all the good reasons to quit is the easy bit, but until you actually WANT to do it, you'll never manage it, so until you make the decision to do it, he should just back off because it's pointless.

I smoke because I want to smoke, and just because I can. The way I figure it, if that's the only bad habit I got then so be it, it could always be alot worse.
Yeah, I may know that I need to quit but I just don't want to.

Try:
1. I think bad breath and coughing up vast quantities of thick purulent phlegm makes me more attractive to the opposite sex.
2. Treatment for lung cancer is improving all the time - my chance of survival is now better than 5%.
3. I can find no other use for the thousands of dollars a year that this fantastic hobby costs me and I rather look forward to dying prematurely in a slow and disgusting manner.

You will be ultimately saving the heath service time and money by your early demise from heart disease or cancer

2
You feel you do not give enough to the government in the taxes you pay on everyday living and that the extra that you pay on smoking goes to help some other addict or idiot that will be a drain on resources because they become to ill to work for a living

3
you intend to leave your diseased liver, lungs and heart to be gawped at by spotty trainee doctors who will turn out to be GP's that try to stop people smoking

Need a light?

Your not a quit-er?
Ok really- you just don't see any reason to quit smoking and you just don't want to - plain and simple.
He is going to give you lots of reasons why you should quit, these are things that you probably already know so it is your life and you want to smoke - then smoke, my husband is a smoker and I don't see him ever quitting

I can't help you out there. I quit over a year ago and I feel great! It was the best present I ever gave myself. But, you'll get no lecture from me, it was also one of the most difficult things I ever did. Good luck to you.

2. I enjoy smelling like a wet ashtray.
3. Burn marks on the furniture give it that 'distressed' look.

Oh sorry, hon. Can't give you that.

I suspect you know you should quit, and maybe you even want to. It's just hard and we tend to dislike that.

Do what's best for your health and listen to your doctor and that angel on your shoulder.

Best wishes

Sorry, man. You need to quit. We want you to be around for a long time. We enjoy your company. It just wouldn't be the same without you.
