Here's the deal. I've been dying to play softball so I joined a league on an already existing team. In my years I've been a darn good player. I'm a southpaw first base player. But what happens is when I join a new team, I get up to the plate to bat and BAM...each time last night (our first game) I strike out. How embarrassing and humiliating! When I get to the plate I have a tendency to get nervous and then I completely f--- up! Why does this keep happening?!?!?!??!?!!!

I can only imagine what this team must think...'oh, the new girl?...she sucks!'

It's just frustrating.

I have had the same problem, just take a little extra time befroe getting into the batter's box. Take a few deep breaths to get comfortable. The biggest problem most hitters have is they start thinking in the box, so above all else don't think about hitting, and just swing.

On a side note that is why I think Ryan Howard is having problems right now. He is thinking too much.

It happens even to the best. You just have to be confident in the good player that you are. Of course you're going to be nervous, but I think you will overcome this once you get settled into your new squad.

Maybe you do suck and now you have validation

If you played all your life you would or should easily

not be so nervous doing what you dreamed of doing on a

team.

Then again no one is perfect and you are human.

Don't give up or dwell on it - just get out there!!

Don't worry about it that much, it happens to even the best of us. It is just your first game. You'll do better next time. We all get those days.
