They are Bush's cronies. It will be that way until he is ousted from the White House.

Free market economy. Start messing with that, and you'll have shortages and gas rationing. Compared to what the rest of the world pays for gas, our's is relativly cheap.
Gas prices are about the same as last year at this time; the big problem is the .50 the "summer blend" gas we are required to use to save the environment costs us.

Most politicians are scared witless of BIG BUSINESS because of the vast resources they can bring to bear on those who oppose or hinder them. Besides, the Democrats love the tax revenues generated by high oil and gas prices, and the greenies like it because it will give them ammo in their war on capitalism. We need to get the federal govt out of the way and promote more competition in the industry to help bring down the prices.

Think about it. How many gallons of gasoline does Exxon provide in a given year? They only earn about 20cents per gallon in profit. Much less than the Federal and State taxes on a gallon. Don't forget that Exxon's profits include more products than gasoline alone.

Because you have corporate democracy which from a people's perspective, can be referred to as plutocracy, NOT people's democracy which you are led to believe you have. That was hijacked long ago. Why don't you watch the documentary "Who killed the Electric Car?" and ask yourself how else could such an event take place in a people's democracy assuming the majority of people aren't complete imbeciles?

Are you just posting this despite knowing the truth.
the profit on a gallon of fuel, for each company involved in getting it out of the ground, refining it into finished product, storing and transporting, marketing and distribution and finally retail sales, that group combined makes less profit than the taxes you pay per gallon.
You are being ripped off by COngress and either know it and will not admit it, which makes you dishonest, or you will not research the truth because you do not want to upset your beliefs with fact, which I guess also makes you dishonest.

No, under no circumstances. A single worldwide language might decimate worldwide lifestyle, get rid of industries, and price an unfathomable quantity of money and time. to no longer point out, the question of what language could be chosen (Mandarin is, after all, the main spoken language).

Why has our government done nothing to address alternative fuel sources in the thirty plus years since OPEC's first oil shortage in the early seventies. Oil is like drugs. There is so much money to be made it doesn't make sense to the money people to change our dependence on foreign oil. It's our fault for not demanding change and the governments for not instituting change for the betterment of all Americans.

because businesses are in business to make profit. why not ask your elected officials why they use tax gouging to rip us off. if you remove state and federal taxes gas would be about $1.80 a gallon or less.
