I was an operations manager with a company and was removed from the position with the reason that I lack inter-personal skills, as well as that I had been at the same location for too long. I had good annual reviews up until this point. There was no documentation stating that I was not performing to expectations, nor was I given an opportunity to perform at the expectation level. My pay was decreased to the level it was at prior to my promotion to Operations Manager. I was then assigned to work with the current weekend shift supervisor, which I did. I was then assigned to go to Fort Wayne, IN to help with another account. I have done this for 8 weeks. I am now being told that if I do not accept a supervisor position at another of our sites, then my employment will be ended with the company. I would receive 9 weeks of severance pay (one week for every year of service).
Do I have a case for wrongful termination in the state of IL or should I just take the severance and run?
