Three weeks ago i planted iris bulbs into pots with compost ,they've started to come up but something seems to be eating the shoots any ideas on what pests like irsi and how do i stop this.

deer and rabbits love the shoots

moles love to eat the bulbs
try ammonia and water with a few drops of baby shampoo
put it in a spray bottle and give them a shot every couple of days

Probably caterpillars, could be beetles. Disyston sprinkled on the dirt and watered in -- very effective systemic insecticide, Iris really prefer to be in the ground. good luck.

Sprinkle Seven Dust on foliage. It is a white powder that kills this type thing. rain washes it away of course so sprinkle again after it is washed away.
