Nope,

Harddrive = More space for all your data needs
More Memory (RAM) = Can speed up your computer
New CPU (Core2Duo maybe?) = Can greatly improve the speed

If you put everything onto the external then it will help with your PC's boot-up speed.

If you are going to be pulling all the stuff you want from the external then probably not as that will chew up RAM like you wouldn't believe.

Internet capabilities - Deffinately not. Your hard drive has nothing to do with that.

If you want to make you computer faster you need more RAM.

of course NOT.

a little advice>> a good hard drive is the one at 10.000 rpm, you can find it everywhere, >>you internet speed has absolutely nothing to do with your computer`s overall performance.

the external hard drive was invented for the need of mass-storage devices, because the cd, dvd was`nt enough anymore.

the internet speed is usually expressed in KB/Second, the more you have, the better. anyway, a decent speed is about 512 kb/second.

good luck!!

Hi Earl,

No, an external drive will not help. It will increase your storage space but will not affect your speed.

The cheapest way to kick up your speed is usually by adding more memory. If you have less then 1 gig of memory that is definitely your first move.

No, but it would increase the storage capacity and virtual memory (if you change the virtual memory setting).
