Hi all. The bars of the signal strength indicator on my K800i often change from red to blue. When this happens, calls can't be made, text messages fail and the words "Emergency calls only" are often displayed instead of the name of my service provider. Clearly there's some signal problem, but if so, why are there bars (rather than none) and why do they vary? I can't find any explanation for this in the (very light) manual nor on websites. Anyone got any ideas?

The blue bars are showing a signal strength, but not the signal from your network You can make 999 calls via any recievable network, but normal calls only through your network (in the uk, abroad roaming rules apply)

sometimes mobilephones switch between 2 and 3 G by them selves.
and you have to have a Special U Sim to be able to connect to 3G Networks.
check to see if you have activated dual band of 3g in your connection settings manager.
it could also be down to signal strength.
meaning you cant pick up your nearest antenna.
i say switch service providers to Orange as they have Excellent Coverage.
try looking at Your Settings.
