Yes, Africans tend to be more polite and have more manners than African Americans..... thats what slavery can do a generation, years down the road, so... I do empathize with the mis education and plight of African-Americans.

No.

If African Americans where immigrants into Africa or West Indies im sure we'd be perceived as being more polite than the general populace there if not for simply because we'd be more exotic. Also when you dont have much of a support system such as extended family in a new country you pretty much have no choice but to be polite and make connections.

I will admit however that lower class African Americans tend to be impolite and even downright nasty sometimes, but then again that could be said for almost any lower class American regardless of race.

You have to remember blacks people are not slaves anymore. The days of yes master and no master is gone. Black people say what on our mind and stand up for ourselves. Who cares Africa and West Indies are more polite? I don't care. They are probably new here and haven't experience the B.S. We have from white folks. Many of them (African and West Indies) do not considered African Americans real black people either because our blood is mixed with white blood. There is good and bad in every race. I am sure white European are more nicer than white Americans too. People are people. You have to take the good and bad. Live your life.

Where I used to work, there were more African Americans than white people to begin with. There were also at any given time a handful of people there from different countries in Africa. Usually students. In my own dealings, they were usually very polite. One guy that I spoke to alot was completely mystified by African American culture and the hate on both sides of the fence here in America, we spoke about it often.
So, I can only answer from my own perspective. The immigrants I met were usually nice.
As for American citizens, well you can find a.s.s.h.o.l.e.s. no matter which color/race/culture you look towards.
