generally I find if you "do unto others as you would have done to you" and practice a little of the "there but for the grace of god go I" you escape unscathed and hopefully make your own difference to the betterment of fellow man

Pride, jealousy, an attempt to cover up an inferiority complex, a lack of personality, a lack of something constructive to do, hatred of people in general, frustration for a failed life, and a host of other reasons that I cannot think of at this particular moment, but pride and jealousy are the chief among the reasons.

As far as why judgment plays such a huge role in our society, it is because we pay attention to it and join in the arguments that judgment spawns. The quickest way to avoid an argument is to completely agree with the person who is making the judgment. This kills all opportunity for an argument to develop. All arguments are judgmental; therefore, it is impossible to win an argument because a person's pride will not allow them to give into the other person. Giving in kills the issue and snuffs out the fire. If a person knows that you will not argue with them they will b3e less likely to judge you because it is an argument that they are looking for and they will not waste their time with you. All judgment is fueled by a response that fans the flame. You do not fight fire with fire, but with water..
