Because they are fools and don't know any better! Evolution is not a theory.

All religion is based upon the fear of sex and control of sex. All the gods invented by mankind have been born of a virgin. Can you believe such cobblers? People do!
The only truth is science based knowledge and it is for this reason that scientists do not indulge themselves with such as the occult or any other religious twaddle.
Look at how religion has taken over the otherwise sane minds of the Turks in recent weeks/months! Are they stark staring mad or what?
The prise being offered to the Turks in exchange for a
non-religious [secular] democracy is full and unconditional membership of the EU. Continued membership of NATO and anything else the Turks want and need will come their way big time. The cash will flow like water - believe.
All of this being thrown away because of sex control freakin religion. How nuts is that?
sex control
1 - women must wear a head scarf
2 - women must wear a burkah
3 - women may play no role in society
4 - women must shut up and do the dishes
5 - any woman who gets pregnant outside of marriage will be stoned to death in the public square
6 - any man who gets any woman pregnant will be let off
And - so it goes. In order for this sex control religion to spread, first the people must be killed, their way of life destroyed to be replaced by sex control God the wanker.

I've asked myself that same question. When they see "theory" of evolution, they assume it's really a theory and not proven... yet, they believe the stories (fairy tales) in a book of unproven words. I guess they are just nuts.
It's like believing in Santa Clause but not believing in gravity.

First, the word "evolution" is completely over used it means nothing more than change. I believe that most people mean Darwinism, or Darwin's theory of creation. Which is just a theory written by Charles Robert Darwin on the origins of man, which he tried to prove and never could, He wrote a second book that completely disproved his own theory, but for lack of an alternate theory to explain the origins of man we are left to choose between it and the theory of creation presented by the bible. People that believe in the bible are asked to do so on their faith, with no facts to back it up. People who believe in Darwins theory are left with the same thing, to believe in a theory with no facts to back it up either. So its really just a personal choice. Either way we're all just a bunch of nuts, religious or not.

Evolution states that something greater (man), evolved from something lesser (fish to ape, etc). But one can only evolve after it's own kind. Otherwise, how come apes don't keep evolving into human beings?
If you see a house you know there is a builder. If you see artwork you know there is an artist. Likewise with man, we are created beings so there must be a Creator, and there is; His name is God.
To repeat a comment I made earlier to someone else: You might not believe in semi-trucks, but if you get hit by one, you'll quickly change your mind!

Because those people are brainwashed since childhood by parents and teachers and priests, and it is hard for them to dislodge ingrained knowledge that has been planted in their brains. The brain is like a computer but data can be erased from a computer but not the brain, unless with difficulty.
Apart from that, some people are so weak-minded and wimpish that they must have a `crutch` to lean on.
After the tsunami when one man lost his wife and four children, he came to the conclusion that his `god` had done this on purpose to strengthen his belief in `god.`
At sixteen I learned there were over 2,000 religions, taking into account the `moon gods,` the `sun gods` and places like Ayres Rock and rivers and mountains etc; and each claimed theirs was the only `god.` They also said all `gods` were the same `god.`
Being intelligent, and able to think for myself, I became a disbeliever and non-believer.
And the promise to suicide bombers to have 24 virgins when they get to heaven only points out how low intelligent they must be to believe that.

Regious blind faith is a virus - It destroys the questioning mind of a child and sets the path for their future- it remomes rational thought and logic. Parents "Becuase I told you so" or "That is what the bible says and the bible is the word of god" is not a way to norish an inquirning mind.
YES a large proportion of the popuation simply lack the mental capacity to THINK - We remove that ability by not giving children the right to use logic to make a resonable choice for which path they wish to choose. - The reason they are not given the choice is because the establishments dont want them to make the choice.
Evolution is a threat to the teachings of the bible

I don't understand why you think it's right to insult the beliefs of millions of people.
It happens a lot on Yahoo Answers. So you don't believe in it - that's fine (I'm not a bible reader myself by the way) but why ridicule people who have hope for something better than the life we have now?
Besides, most people I know who are religious believe that the bible is a collection of moral stories - not scientific fact.
Obvioulsy when the bible was written Palaeontology wasn't heard of.

The theory of evolution doesnt work, there are majorly big holes in it....Science has proven through the tracing of the mitochondrial line that we all came from one woman out of Africa!!! We are all related in that sense, all brothers and sisters...
Sorry to dissapoint you evolutionists.
Mitochondrial Eve (mt-mrca) is the name given by researchers to the woman who is the matrilineal most recent common ancestor (MRCA) for all living humans. Passed down from mothers to offspring for over a hundred thousand years, her mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is now found in all living humans: every mtDNA in every living person is derived from hers. Mitochondrial Eve is the female counterpart of the Y-chromosomal Adam, the patrilineal most recent common ancestor.
