Absolutely not. Unless they are willing to reimburse you for gas, you can straight up refuse. Remeber its YOUR car. They wat you to travel, they can reimburse you, like i said earlier, or provide you with a company vehicle.
Doesnt sound like a very professional place.

Maybe yes or no. People use their cars all of the time for work. Your employer has the right to change the rules of work anytime unless you have a contract with them. Things change, and employers have the right to change the way they employ people. You should check with your insurance just to be sure, and if you do need to use the car, try to negotiate a pay raise or milage. Given todays gas cost, I'd say at least 40 cents per mile would be the going rate.

Most insurance companies do not cover you if your car is not registered with them as used for business purposes. You should check with your insurance company and presents the findings to your employer. If there is an additional cost, see if your employer is going to compensate you for it.
On the plus side, if you end up using your car for business, you can deduct mileage / gas from your income tax.

Tell them no. Who is going to pay for the insurance and repairs? Where is the liability issue if there is an accident while you are driving the car for work purposes? Who pays for the gas? This sounds to me like they are really giving you a pay cut.

Make sure your insurance covers you for using your car for work - some have restrictions. If that's the case, you can legitimately refuse to use it for work, unless your employer offers you alternative insurance. Also ask about what expenses they are going to pay you (miles per gallon etc) and do your sums.

No way.......... not unless they are going to pay your insurance as a company vehicle. If you had an accident while driving for work your insurance wouldn't cover you and you would be left without a car.
Ring your insurance company to clarify this but I'm sure this is the case.

well It depends on a lot of things. I use my car quite a lot for work so I understand, just make sure they ask you nicely and they have to pay for gas and minor maintenance. It is really tricky so i hope you have a good relationship with the employer. Just dont tell them 'NO' till you have discussed it fully ok. GOODLUCK!

Only is your position is classifeid as being an 'Essential Car User'. Clearly this is not the case as you have not had to use your car for 5 years; therefore, no, they cannot.

Does he reimburse you for your fuel expenses that you incur using your car, and for the maitanance of your car? If YES then sure, he can make you use your car.
I checked around and couldn't find any law on your question. I guess its more a question of ethics than law.
