I believe you are referring to the Colorado River, That runs though the Grand Canyon.

Powell himself was among the first of many to see the Colorado River as a challenge to be conquered - a wild beast to be tamed.

The Grand Canyon has many life forms. When rafting at the bottom you do see many burros and mules. Occaisonally I have seen deer and of course there are rattle snakes and many types of reptiles. The top of the food chain is the Cougar or Mountain lion. The odds of seeing one of these big cats is astronomical. But there are many in the canyon.
AND>>> as in all parts of the US there are always Coyotes.
Hope that does it for you. ps.. have never seen or heard of camels in the Canyon

"Donkey" "***" I don't think there are any "Camels" left, there may be some wild horses left.

That word pertaining to the lower back extremity that refers to an animal similar to a donkey that keeps getting zapped out.
