I totally agree with you. Most of the time they get misinformation or contradictory advice. Medical questions should be addressed to their doctor, not to amateurs on this site.

It can take a couple of weeks to get in to see a doctor if it's not an emergency. People can get answers here in a few minutes. Some answers will be wrong, of course, but if there is a consensus about something not being too serious, they may feel less worried after reading the answers. Or they may decide, based on the answers they get, that a situation is grave enough to go to an Emergency Room. Unfortunately doctors are very busy, and most of us can't just see one anytime we'd like to. And some people are uninsured and hesitate to see a doctor if there is any alternative; we can try to persuade them that it is worth the money and getting the time off from work if their symptons are serious.
Lots of times people worry about things that are actually normal, such as the skin on their penis being a different color from their other skin. In such cases, we can save the asker a doctor's visit and a lot of anxiety.

Why is it that you are asking a question meant to be rude? Some people just want a second opinion, or want to be more clear on an issue before they go see a doctor, because somebody may answer who has experienced whatever the questioner is asking about. If you don't like those questions, just don't read them.

Because when you go to the doctor, it's kind of a definite answer you get there.. Here, you get answers that are more like speculations, and sometimes it's easier to cope with those, than reality. We all get scarred of reality sometimes, and that is the reason. Sometimes, you just don't want to know that what you suspect is right. This is just buying time to accept what you know is true, and when people are ready, they will go to the doc.

maybe because they are either shy nervous embarrassed or scared to go to the doctors in case they find they have a serious problem so they ask questions to find out if anyone has a similar problem to them and to get advice from a secondary source

I think people know they should be really seeing their doctor but need confirmation about it. I know when my girl was small I used to ask my friends advice then go see the doc/health visitor and they usually said exactly the same thing as my friends!!!

maybe they are in work, or are waiting for a slot, or maybe embarrassed. or it could be they dont believe in doctors, or they are just lazy and would rather sit at a computer asking strangers what wrong with them when we aint qualified, we are just giving ideas.

Possibly for the same reason/s that some people chose to post pointless questions containing numerous spelling errors and grammer mistakes. *cough*
