Nanotechnology is a technology in its infancy. The goal is to be able to create tiny machines that will be able to manipulate molecules individually to create whatever is needed.

Others may tell you they are supposed to be between 1-100 nanometers in size... but that's not really a size that you can imagine, is it? To put it in perspective... nano-machines are so small they are (will be) smaller than your blood cells. Eventually they might even be able to be used to cure diseases... they might be a technological immune system :)

Nano-ethics is a philosophy... like any other ethical system, it is designed to help you (US) determine what is Right and Wrong. Just because we Can create nanotechnology doesn't always mean we Should.

There are great risks involved in creating machines that can do what nanotech envisions. Risks to Health (if they go wrong), the Environment (nano machines could destroy an oil field, for example)... and, of course, there are military risks that would make the atomic bomb look like a child's toy! (there are science fiction stories that deal with the possibilities... let's hope they don't come true! :))

So, Nano tech may be the greatest development of the human race... or it might be the destruction of the human race (if used incorrectly... like anything else :)) Developing a good Nano Ethics philosophy is of paramount importance... but will mean nothing if it isn't followed by everyone.

Nanotechnology is a applied field of science involved in manipulation for matter on a scale between 1-100 nanometers (less than one micrometer). The disciplines of nanotechnology are widely varied beyond this main unifying theme.

Nanoethics is the ethical study of the employment of nanotechnology is it's various disciplines.

Nanotechnology is a science dealing with extremely small objects because the word nano means one-billionth. Nanotechnology deals with materials measured in a billionth of a meter. A nano meter is so small that it is about 1/80,000 the diameter of a human hair or the size of ten hydrogen atoms wide.

Nanotechnology refers back to the skill to regulate human being atoms and molecules, making it a probability to construct machines using molecular progression blocks or create components and structures from the bottom up through designing houses to regulate structure.
