1: I'm talking about real football, not GAA football, or the american version of rugby, in both of which people use their hands more than feet. I'm talking about the football in which you use your FOOT to kick the BALL. (Hence, 'FOOTBALL')

2: Not looking for peoples opinions everyone! I mean by statistics - ie who has the biggest collection of trophies

3: I'm interested in the best team in the world (at club level) and the best team in england. Fire away!!!

I should make clear, im talking about the greatest team consistently, from the day they were formed right up to today.

So in other words, "Man U in the 90's" or "Liverpool in the 80s" or Real Madrid in the 50's" wouldn't count.

If someone could tell me that Man U had won more trophies in their history than any other team,(for example) then THAT would count.

Ok, here it comes (hope you're ready - this is the definitive answer):

We'll start with european championships:

Champions League/European Cup:
I have listed the five teams who have won the cup the most times. They also happen to be the five teams who have been allowed to keep the cup (a team can keep the champions league cup if they have won it 5 times or more, or if they retain it, ie win it in consecutive seasons). Here they are, listed in order:

Real Madrid - 9
A.C. Milan - 6
Liverpool - 5
Ajax - 4
Bayern Munich - 4

UEFA Cup:

The top five teams have all won it 3 times:

Liverpool
Juventus
Barcelona
Internazionale
Valencia

*******************************************************************

Ok, so on to the individual countries. I have disregarded any countries who do not have a team in the top 5 European Cup winners. Start with Italy:

Serie A:
Juventus FC - 27
AC Milan - 17
Internazionale - 15
Genoa CFC - 9
Torino FC - 7

Coppa Italia
Juventus 9
A.S. Roma 7
Fiorentina 6
Internazionale 5
A.C. Milan 5

So, it really comes down to AC Milan or Juventus - I have to go with Milan as they are the team that appears in the top 5 of the Domestic league, Domestic cup, and European cup. Juventus are undoubtably better in italy, but looking at the wider picture in europe I would have to say AC Milan, despite Juventus 3 wins in the UEFA cup.

On to Spain:

Primera Liga:
Real Madrid/Madrid CF: - 29
FC Barcelona/CF Barcelona: - 18
Atlético Madrid/Atlético Aviación: - 9

Copa Del rey
FC Barcelona/CF Barcelona - 24
Athletic Bilbao/Atlético Bilbao - 23
Real Madrid/Madrid CF/Madrid FC - 17

There can't be any argument there - yes, barcelona have won more domestic cups then Real, but Real Madrid have won more Leagues and more European Cups than any other team in europe.

Germany:

Bundesliga:
FC Bayern München - 20
BFC Dynamo Berlin - 10
FC Nürnberg - 9

DFB Pokal
FC Bayern München - 13
SV Werder Bremen - 5
FC Schalke 04 - 4

Again, no arguments here - Bayern Munich have won everything more than any other team in germany.

Holland:
Ajax - 29
PSV - 20
Feyenoord - 14

KNVB Cup
Ajax - 16
Feyenoord - 9
PSV - 8

Has to be Ajax.

And now, on to England:

League:
1: Liverpool - 18
2: Manchester United - 15
3: Arsenal - 13
4: Everton - 9
5: Aston Villa - 7

FA cup:
1: Manchester United - 11
2: Arsenal - 10
3: Tottenham Hotspur - 8
4: Liverpool - 7 (Current Champions)
5: Aston Villa - 7

League Cup:
1: Liverpool 7
2: Aston Villa 5
3: Nottingham Forest 4
4: Chelsea 4
5: Tottenham Hotspur 3

Again, I can't see any arguments: Liverpool have won more European Cups, domestic leagues, and one of the two domestic cups more than any other, and are in the top 5 winners of the other domestic cup.

******************************************************************

I have intentionally excluded club teams from other FIFA regions. I know Brazil have some good club teams, but their domestic league is so corrupt and disorganised it cannot be said to have any real relevance, and there is no CONMEBOL club cup with any real substance.

So, realistically, we come back to the top five winners or the European Cup. Here they are, listed again, with the trophies they have won . (a asterisk [ * ] means they have won that competition more than any other)

Real Madrid:
European Cups: 9*
Domestic Leagues: 29*
Domestic Cups: 17

Ac Milan:
European Cups: 6
Domestic Leagues:17
Domestic Cups:5

(Or, incase of arguments, )
(Juventus: )
(European Cups: 2 )
(Domestic Leagues: 27* )
(Domestic Cups: 9* )
(also Uefa Cup: 3 )

Liverpool:
European Cups: 5
Domestic Leagues: 18*
Domestic Cups: 7/7* (two different domestic cups)
**Liverpool are also the only team of these top 5 to have won the UEFA Cup 3 times**

Bayern Müchen:
European Cups: 4
Domestic Leagues: 20*
Domestic Cups: 13*

Ajax:
European Cups: 4
Domestic Leagues: 29*
Domestic Cups:16*

*******************************************************************

Now we get down to my personal opinions

I would rule out AC Milan, as they are the only one of the top 5 European Cup winners NOT to have won their domestic league more than any other team in their country.

So we're left with

Real Madrid
Liverpool
Bayern Munich
Ajax

I would have to put Real Madrid first, Simply due to their record 9 European Cup wins, but also because of their 29 League wins, (I personally believe the league is harder to win than a domestic cup, but easier to win than the European Cup)

Liverpool, for me, would have to come second, with a very impressive haul, followed by Bayern, then Ajax.

So, my answer to your question is this:

The best club team in the world is:

***************Real Madrid*******************

Closely followed by:

*****************Liverpool*******************

In England it has to be Liverpool no arguments right?

Be interesting to hear other peoples opinions though?

Real Madrid. They have collected the largest amount of trophies in the Champions League(or whatever it was called then). Lately they have been playing very well thanks to the transfer of Van Nistelrooy. However Arsenal is also very good. They have never been relegated before. In the 2002-2003 season, they managed an unbeaten run, only the second time it has happened in the whole history of the english league.

Historically talking, Real Madrid is the first, Boca Juniors the second, and the others are all equal. But, everything will be decided in today's world cup.
