I have never used it specifically for that, but I have used it on many many a valve covers and its never failed....I think if thats your only option you should be fine.

The best rtv I know of and would swear by it is called "Right Stuff". It comes in a can and has an applicator tip. It is the type of rtv the factory uses (cars) in place of gaskets. Many vehicles come with no gaskets in places like valve covers and oil pans. It is as far as I know the only atv on the market that is approved by car manufacturers to be used as a replacement sealer. You will find it at your local parts house, probably not Wal-Mart. The only downside is that you will buy a whole can and use very little for your application. If it sits for to long after you open it, it will harden.

DO NOT use liquid gasket, unless the manufacture specifies to use it in that location.
If a paper gasket is supposed to be used and one isn't available, purchase some gasket paper from an auto parts store and make your own.
And don't use ordinary sealant like permetex. Use quality sealant for motorcycles.
