I am doing a science fair project and I already know that if you heat amethyst it becomes citrine, and citrine in beta radiation it becomes amethyst... But I can't find anywhere on how I would create and control beta rays...

Is it possible for me to do? I already know they are very harmfull to skin and all that but if I could get any help on how to create beta rays (that I can control) that would be awesome! =)

Or if you possibly know another way to turn citrine back into amethyst that would also work =D although I only know of the beta rays...

well beta rays are simply electrons (beta-) or positrons (beta+)
You just need an electron gun, that is present in the cathode tube of any monitor or tv (of course not the flat ones)

However i'm not an electrical engeneer, and tv cathode tubes works at around 100000 V. Disassembling a cathode tube could be very dangerous. Also they works under vacuum, so you need a vacuum device and put inside your disassembled electron gun and the citrine.

hmm, quite difficult, I suggest another way if possible.

Try a tubelight. Essentially beta rays are fast moving electrons.
