i need to double my ram but am unsure of what type to buy. the only information i have sn the sticker which is already on the currently installed ram which is, 512 ddr 266mhz cl2.5. i have looked on ebay for this but then they ask for more info such as is it pc2100 etc. help

here is what u need for example: Ultra 256MB PC2100 DDR 266MHz Memory

the 2.5 is Memory CAS Latency

if you are unsure on what type of ram you have turn off your computer and take out the ram... be sure not to chip anything, (for obvious reasons) once you have take out your ram (you only need to take out one stick) check how many gaps it has usualy if it only has one gap it's DDR and is on a later model of computer otherwise if the computer is older than about 3-6 years you could be using SDRAM which usualy has 2 gaps... buf if what your saying is correct than you have DDR and should DDR for PC's ddr ram usualy fits in any later model computer and once again depending on how old your computer is you can get from 126mb - 2gigs of ram (2x1gig) ... well i hope that helped in someway

PC2100 is the same as ddr266.

Call Best Buy. Give them the name and model number of your computer. They will advise you what to buy. You can install it yourself. The bigger the better is certainly true in RAM.
