I hate to tell you, but when you have your own business you're still working for others, ..your customers.
change your tone or you'll
be wasting the other half of your life.

If you are indeed serious, why do you not say, what you want to do? Working for yourself is hard, but yes you get all the money. But what you don't get is health insurance, life insurance, and sick pay. Plus your job pays you for coming to work, when you are working for yourself, you have to be a self starter, and you must go and seek a job, everyday in order to make any money. What are your skills?? Your verbal skills are a bit lacking, so this might be a problem as you will have to communicate, or advertise your abilities. Find someone to help you. Have some business cards printed, you can do this on a computer, and also print 8x11 posters to take around to business's. I have a good friend who makes a nice living(seasonal) washing windows for business's. Ine if my other friends lost his job, and hires out at 35.00 per hour doing odd jobs, such as hauling off trash, fixing things around the house, that need to be done. But check to make sure you are not doing electrical or plumbing work with out the proper licences. If you need re -training, check with the college, or votech, there are usually free programs to train older adults in something new. So before you do anything, write down, what your strenghts are, what talents you have, that people might pay you for. I commend you not wanting to go into debt, however there are loans available to persons who are of a certain age, or nationality, and they do not have to be repaid. Many hobbies evolve into full time work, so you might consider this, what does your area have need of? Talk to someone, whom you respect, and go for it. But go prepared.

If you have an idea for a technical business, and patience, and some like-minded friends - you can get around RM45k to seed your idea.

It takes a little longer that you'd expect it, but the Cradle Investment Program fund helped me get started. But of course, being in business can be another major crisis altogether. Good luck!
