Go into an HSBC branch and explain. They should be able to give you money over the counter - so long as you have the old card and current ID. Alternatively, make a cheque out to yourself and cash it.

Nothing I'm afraid. It's standard procedure where the card has been reported lost or stolen, even if it subsequently turns up.

The possibility of mis-use while it was out of your custody or control means the card issuer is doing exactly the right thing by refusing to reverse the decision. It limits everyone's liability to potential fraud, especially you.

If the card is a debit card and you have internet access, transfer some funds electronically to a trusted friend or family member so they can withdraw money for you. Alternatively, just wait a few days.

Be thankful that your bank is watching your backside. Consider this: If someone else had found your card, would you want them to be able to call the bank and claim that they were you and that you'd found your card? And then drain your account? Didn't think so!

It's standard practice when a card is reported lost or stolen to cancel the card and re-issue it with a new number. You can still write checks or make cash withdrawals over the counter at your local branch.

For security reasons they cannot reverse a cancelled card. What you should be able to do is go into your bank or building society with the card and also a form of ID and they should give you cash no problem as long as they can verify its you,

You can't use it - they have cancelled it to prevent a fraud being committed against you and it is no doubt deactivated.

If you need money, go into the bank to get it with some form of photographic ID - passport and driving licence - and a couple of recent bank statements. You shouldn't then have too much problem withdrawing from your account.

Till the card comes through, use good old fashioned cash.

Go into the bank and withdraw money is your only option. You'll have to wait for a new debit card to be issued

If a card is closed it will no longer work. The purpose is to ensure that if it was someone else other than yourself who found the card they could not use it. Most financial institutions provide temporary debit cards.

I think as soon as they send your new card, they cancel your old one. I had the same problem when I misplaced my card. You can still withdraw money over the counter at your bank. Hope you card arrives soon..

yeah, same thing happened to a friend - she just had to wait for the new card. You could always write a check to "Cash" and take it to the bank to get money out.
