I have had two and now I dont use it anymore. The first one was when I bought a pushchair for £390. She would only accept a cheque saying that paypal charge too much. Sent the cheque, no pushchair. Ebay have only given me £105 in compensation. The police said they would not get involved because Ebay have their own way of dealing with it!!!
The second, I sold my phone to the highest bidder, they paid by paypal. I was just about to send it (by that I mean I was on my way out of the door to the post office) when my laptop informed me i had an email. It was from Ebay saying they had taken the money out of my paypal account as the person who bought my phone used someone elses ebay account without permission. I was so lucky I hadnt sent the phone.
I hate ebay now. I used it all the time and bought most of my stuff from there. However, its when things go wrong and ebay do nothing to help that makes trudging out to the shops much more appealing!!

Ebay is far from buyer friendly, probably because their fees are paid by the seller. However, you can take steps to reduce the risk. When selling, always send by recorded or special delivery (you can incorporate the cost within your listing). As another respondent said, check out people's feedback and also read the comments, as sometimes a seller gets a negative response for no real reason but, as he said, don't deal with anyone who has a below 97% rating and even then, raise that to 100% if he/she hasn't much of a record. When buying, use PayPal as they are set up the other way, that is, buyer friendly and if something goes wrong you can get your money back(within limits). Wouldn't give up on Ebay yet, it can be a great marketplace. The other thing, is look at the Community Chat pages, they are a good early warning system for scams.

I've never had a serious problem such as that . But any problems i had i reported to eBay and recieved a response within 48 hours and they sorted it right away !.. I've heard many who have had problems but they are out numbered by those who don't . It's NOT fair on the honest traders and these bad people give those a bad name !
.. If you payed via paypal put a claim in with them , maybe easier to get your money back .
Can't say anything more because i don't know the full details of your problem :(

I have problems with one particular seller since February, I bid and won 2 items off her at the beginning of February but had no contact again until March, she said she'd posted my items, then she said her dad had died, then her mom had, my items were still on her coffee table because she had been ill, 2 weeks later her father was seriously ill, she had an excuse for everything and I got the feeling she was a compulsive lair, I have just got my money back now even though she had had my cheque since the beginning of February, thank goodness for me she was a one off and it hasn't put me off buying again, hope you get things sorted out soon, threaten legal action that might work.

basically like a brick and mortar keep, an marvelous seller treats the customer like gold. they could not continuously be perfect, that's our interest to lead them to sense that they are. shelter your clientele and you will not could desire to fret approximately damaging comments. And no, i don't choose my clientele to sense i'm critiquing them, in the event that they don't pay, they get pronounced as a non-paying purchaser. No vast deal. permit eBay shelter that, and you concentration on offering the final shopper care attainable. in case you're particularly under pressure a pair of purchaser, then block them. EBay has mechanisms in place to overturn unwarranted damaging or independent comments from clientele. by using the way, the "F.B." Kitty is referencing isn't facebook, that's purchaser comments by using way of comments rankings. those supply ability new clientele a heads-up as to who's a good seller and provides the product ordered in a well timed and to blame way.

Well my motorola phone was stolen - i sold it on ebay and the highest bidder was a scam - sent me fake emails from paypal and ebay saying they had paid - ebay did nothing about about it - even when i reported it they didn't acknowledge it - all i wanted was for them to remove the person from ebay but apparently they don't care.
