I'd like to take up music as a hobby but i have tiny hands which makes playing guitar or standard piano a nightmare. what should i take into consideration?

It really depend on the kind of music you like. If you like wind instruments the possibilities are [a] the harmonica or mouth organ [b] the saxaphone.
If a piano is too awkward, try looking at the various types of electronic keyborads in the market, I'm sure you'll find one with narrow keys thatwill suit your style.
A set of drums/ a drum pad/ a conga or bongo drum would also be a good idea.

a Dolbro. all you need is fingerpicks and a steel or glass slide. or a Mandolin is perfect for small hands. A violin. A Dulcimer. A Harmonica.

sure. i began on piano at the same time as i develop into 6 (supply up instructions at the same time as i develop into 12)... I performed trumpet, baritone, and French horn on condition that i develop into 11. i may also play guitar, violin / mess round, and bagpipes. sometime i elect to study the woodwinds - flute, clarinet, sax, etc.
