The swelling will last for a few days to two weeks, everyone's body is different. If the jewerly is leaving an indent or becoming embedded in your skin, it may be too short. Take a trip to your piercers to have them check it out and give you larger jewelry if you need it.

To help with the swelling, chew on ice chips and take ibuprofen (advil).

the swelling sounds pretty normal. just keep an eye on it and get it checked out if it starts to be hot to touch or your getting headaches or feeling sick.
the imprint is normal as well. and it likely that it will stay there. my boyfriends lip is pieced and the imprint of the flat ball stopper inside his mouth is always there.
to reduce the swelling keep ice in your mouth at all times. rub it on you lips. when i got my tongue pieced i carried around a cup of ice for a few days and it really helped.
the swelling will probably last for around a week. sometimes more, sometimes a little less. your lip wont be fully healed for around 6-8 weeks though, so give it time. and dont change the bar until then.
good luck xo

it is normal to have swelling...it should go down about a week...if not then get it checked out...but just wash it with normal soap and really that is it...but it will stay swollen and probably hurt for a few days

Yes it's normal. Just put some ice on it. Ice is the #1 remedy for swelling. If it's permitted by your aftercare instructions, then a popsicle would probably be more funner (yes, I said "more funner").

Did you not get any information from the place you got pierced at?

If they didn't give you info don't go back ever again.

Put ice on it for a while and make sure you disinfect it. The first sign of infection is swelling.
