No. The reason is because a DVD has "pits" that are located closer together than the pits on a CD. Thus, the drive cannot read DVDs, or write to blank ones.
If you are looking to put a movie onto a disc, you can still do so, provided the file fits on the disc. Older DVD players will only read ".mpg" or ".mpeg" files, but newer ones can often read ones that are in "DivX" format with the extension ".avi". Hope this helps!

hi. To ansvver confident or no, the ansvver isn't any. Having a dvd participant on your computing device does no longer mean you may burn dvds. It ought to be a DVD burner: DVD R/RVV and softvvare. in case you have a DVD burner than confident you may burn DVDs on them. in case you do no longer you may no longer. If it in straight forward terms examine on the print of the tension DVD ROM it would not burn DVD's, if it reads DVD R/RVV it does. Chech to confirm vvhat yours says. it is on the front of the tray which you place the CD (compact disc) on. wish that helps. Take care. there's a awareness of the pinnacle, and a awareness of the middle. -Charles Dickens

d burner is different and DVD burner is different.
if u can see what is writen on ur drive u can identify it easily.
if it is combo - then u can read and not write DVD and read and write cd's.
if its just CD r/rw - then u cannot read or write DVD and read and write cd's.

Definitely NOT. Go, just buy a DVD writer. They're pretty cheap nowadays, about $35.
