B.J. Upton batting .377 is almost unimaginable.

I'll have to say Tim Hudson or Rich Hill.
I thought Tim was on the decline. He has yet to play in Atlanta to the caliber of what he did in previously, although he's off to a good start, which shows he may be on his way...
And Rich Hill, before about 3 weeks ago, I'd never even heard of the guy. He is awesome.

Ian Kinsler came out of nowhere to become one of the best players so far this year. Who would have thought that he would be second in the majors in HRs. He may cool down soon but right now I think he is the biggest surprise.

Rich Hill. He has picked up a failing Carlos Zambrano and become the ace of the staff for now. Big Z never has a good April. I think Mark DeRosa is a surprising second. He has really turn it on this year.

I'm going the other way on this one. I think David Wright's and Michael Young's season has been the most surprising to me. Wright just got his first HR of the season last night. And, Young has been hitting below .200 most of the season so far. That's more of a surprise to me.

Sorry to pick outside your choices but I have to say Alex Rodriguez is surprising. This guy has gone from being the red-headed-step-child to the flotation device savior of the entire team ... in April.

I would have to say David Wright. I say this only because of his surprising lack of power. Out of all the players that hit at least 25 home runs last year, he was the last player to hit his 1st home run of the year last night.

nobody is talking about it and i think that gives all the reason more to mention him - chipper jones! he wasnt supposed to be good this year, and he hasnt been great in years. i think 10 HR 20 RBI and 24 R is pretty good for a guy who seemed to be dropping off the face of the earth quickly.

They all have had surprising starts, but A Rod, even though i dont like him very much, has had the most amazing start. Its really unbelievable what a streak he was on.
