Astrology involves lot of mathematics and calculations for the predictions to be perfect. For this one needs to know the exact date and time of birth, the place and the country where the birth takes place. If these data or the inputs required to cast an horoscope are not the way they should be, the predictions will go awry and there is an ABUSE in the data itself.
If all the inputs are quite precise,an expert &proven astrologer, adept in astrological mathematics will utilise this to come out with exemplarily provable predictions- A USE as you call it.
Road side astrologers will only abuse, taking advantage of of one's gullibleness

* Every time someone here asks,"I'm a Sagittarius and my boyfriend is a Taurus, are we compatible?" This is so superficial as to make astrology a silly game. There is so much more to astrology; aspects, other planets, houses, that people asking questions do not know about or do not care. Astrology is complicated, and detailed, it does not mean anything like what comes out of a magazine column.

Astrology is a conversation.
Astrology is an opening.
Astrology is about creating the future.
Astrology is about the relationship between you and the cosmos. This relationship is one of a mutual mirroring. You mirror the cosmos, the cosmos mirrors you.
An astrology chart gives a configuration of symbols, and a set of emphases, and shows where your attention and talents are likely to be focused in order to gain life-experience and mastery. How you play out your life and chart are up to you, according to your CHARACTER, which is formed according to your ethical-religious- spiritual path.
Consider that your astrological chart is a map that you can use or not use to get where you want to go. If you have any uncertainty about how to get where you're going in unfamiliar territory, most people would agree that it's just plain easier and prudent to use a map or ask directions, rather than proceed by trial and error in unfamiliar territory. Once you get close to where you want to go, i.e., get to an intersection or to an address, then what you do there is up to you. However, astute coaching may help you even there, depending on your goals for the situation.
Astrology helps get you into the ballpark of success. Howyou play the game after that is up to you - your character and application of self.
astrology "works" not because the planets cause anything [they don't], or because there is any exact mapping of events to planets [there isn't], but because the practice of astrology - the conversation of astrology - is A COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT ABOUT REALITY AT A VERY DEEP LEVEL, an agreement about life-process, soul-experience, what we're learning individually and collectively, and what meaning we place on our experience.
The birthchart provides an ACCESS POINT to open up a conversation about how the person is creating his life, how he can best maximize his talents, and achieve his goals for the future.
There is an ethics to astrological conversation. There are ways to talk that foster fear and are negatively-programmatic vs. ways to talk that foster personal empowerment and responsibility and are positively inspiring.

the subject is great. but intrepretation goes wrong most of the times for various reasons. if u feel that rain is likely to come what u will do. u will take an umbrella or rain coat. in the same way astrology is also a subject that helps to some extent only. to much belief is not good. w e have to take in that context only. it is the duty of an almighty what to give or what not to give to every human being, if another human being tries to know the handicraft of god he will not remain silent and thatswhy most of the times the predictions goes wrong. and also scientifically correct birth time is not known to any body, thatswhy also the predictions goes wrong.

Those who defend astrology by pointing out how accurate professional horoscopes are. Astrology “works,” it is said, but what does that mean? Basically, to say astrology works means that there are a lot of satisfied customers and one can shoehorn any event to fit a chart. It does not mean that astrology is accurate in predicting human behavior or events to a degree significantly greater than mere chance. There are many satisfied customers who believe that their horoscope accurately describes them and that their astrologer has given them good advice.
Such evidence does not prove astrology so much as it demonstrates the Forer effect, and confirmation bias. Confirmation bias refers to a type of selective thinking whereby one tends to notice and to look for what confirms one's beliefs, and to ignore, not look for, or undervalue the relevance of what contradicts one's beliefs. For example, if you believe that during a full moon there is an increase in admissions to the emergency room where you work, you will take notice of admissions during a full moon, but be inattentive to the moon when admissions occur during other nights of the month. A tendency to do this over time unjustifiably strengthens your belief in the relationship between the full moon and accidents and other lunar effects.
This tendency to give more attention and weight to data that support our beliefs than we do to contrary data is especially pernicious when our beliefs are little more than prejudices. If our beliefs are firmly established on solid evidence and valid confirmatory experiments, the tendency to give more attention and weight to data that fit with our beliefs should not lead us astray as a rule. Of course, if we become blinded to evidence truly refuting a favored hypothesis, we have crossed the line from reasonableness to closed-mindedness.
Good astrologers give good advice, but that does not validate astrology. There have been several studies that have shown that people will use selective thinking to make any chart they are given fit their preconceived notions about themselves and their charts. Many of the claims made about signs and personalities are vague and would fit many people under many different signs. Even professional astrologers, most of whom have nothing but disdain for sun sign astrology, can’t pick out a correct horoscope reading at better than a chance rate.
Confirmation bias is a godsend to astrology. The many different predictions of astrology, with its numerous aspects to consider, and the different possibly interpretations of the data mean it is child’s play to cherry pick predictions that match the actual characteristics of the person, and ignore those that don’t. No matter who the person is, there will be something in the horoscope that fits, and what doesn’t fit will be forgotten. Confirmation bias means the believers don’t even realize they have done this.
